The Heritage Bench draws inspiration from functional furniture of rural Irish country homes. Constructed from a discarded construction beam, this bench gives a second life to wood that would otherwise go to the landfill. Recycling of material was common in Ireland post British colonization, which depleted Ireland of its natural resources and forced the indigenous into poverty. The Heritage Collection focuses on repurposing material and retelling the history of furniture through the lens of my cultural background.
